What's included in the Local Presence Plan for Tanning Salons
Part of our Local Presence Plan. Six things, every month: 1. Your Google Business Profile, set up properly. We fill in and tidy your profile so it says clearly what you do, where you are and when you're open. 2. Behind-the-scenes code on your website. We add structured data (schema). It's hidden code that tells Google and AI tools your name, address, hours and services in a form they can read. 3. The same details everywhere. We check your Google Maps pin and make your name, address and phone number match across the main directories. 4. Help with reviews. You get ready-made templates for asking for reviews and replying to them, and a simple plan for getting more. We never write reviews for you. 5. A short weekly report. Every week you get the three most important fixes, in plain words. 6. One local LinkedIn post a week. We write one post a week for your business page.
For a tanning salon, that means your services, prices, opening hours, age policy and how to book are clear and match everywhere customers look. Doesn't include paid ads. Why fill in the form: The score shows whether a customer can see what you offer, and your rules, before they walk in.

| Pre-event spray tans | How far ahead customers should book | Booking guidance for weddings and holidays |
What your customers ask AI tools
- "spray tan the day before a wedding near Romford"
- "tanning salon with stand-up sunbeds open Sunday"
- "how long before a holiday should I book a spray tan"
- "tanning salon that sells minutes packages near Bexleyheath"
- "mobile spray tan for a hen party in Essex"
- "what to do before a spray tan appointment"
How customers choose a tanning salon
Google Business Profile: category, hours, services and booking link
List sunbeds and spray tans as separate services with their own booking options. Weekend and late opening hours must be accurate.
Reviews and replies
Reply to reviews about results or staff without making any claim about skin or health.
Service pages: sunbeds, spray tans and minutes packages
For hair, nails and lashes, see our page on hair and beauty salon marketing.
Sunbed sessions and minutes packages
Explain how minutes work, how long they last and the age rule, without urging frequent sessions.
Spray tans and pre-event bookings
Tell customers how to prepare and how far ahead to book before an event.
Online booking, courses and memberships
Put the age declaration in the booking flow, not just on a poster.
The rules tanning salons must follow online
No sunbed use or offers to under-18s
Section 2 of the Sunbeds (Regulation) Act 2010 makes it an offence in England and Wales to let under-18s use a sunbed or to offer them one; Scotland and Northern Ireland have equivalent laws. Source: legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2010/20.
[H4] Age checks and targeting social ads away from under-18s Exclude under-18 audiences from paid social and avoid imagery that appeals to young people. Check the CAP Code for current targeting rules.
No "safe", vitamin D or health-benefit claims
UKHSA and the WHO discourage cosmetic sunbed use; the ASA does not accept safety or health claims for sunbeds. We remove any such wording.
Health-risk information customers should see
Link to the GOV.UK sunbeds safety advice so customers can read it before booking.
Rebooking and quiet-period campaigns
Spray tan rebooking reminders
Remind customers who agreed to hear from you when their tan is likely to fade, with a booking link.
Seasonal demand: holidays, weddings and events
Plan spray tan content ahead of the seasons when customers start asking. Tanning is regulated, as are many sectors we support, so we write salon pages with respect for the Sunbeds Act and your council's local conditions.
Why tanning salons work with us (Pitch Lead; bold lead-in, not a heading) 1. Safety facts first. Our tanning copy never suggests that UV tanning has health benefits. We state your age policy plainly. Under-18s may not use sunbeds (Sunbeds (Regulation) Act 2010, cited in CD_LOCAL §2e; check before publishing). 2. We treat spray tanning and sunbeds differently. They are different services with different rules, so they get separate, clear descriptions. 3. No results claims. There are no "safe tan", glow or skin-benefit promises, only what the service is and how to book. 4. Honest reviews only. Templates and a plan, and we never write reviews. Why fill in the form: Free and quick. You'll see whether your salon's information is clear and careful before a customer chooses.
Who you'll be working with (RTBs; real proof only)
Why fill in the form: You don't have to take our word for any of this. The score gives you something concrete to judge us by.

- Our rule: AI tools help us draft, and a person checks and signs off.
- Published prices and terms. What the plan costs and how to stop are on the plan page, not hidden in a call.
- Honest about what we can't promise. No one controls what Google or AI tools show, so we don't promise positions, enquiries or dates.

Clear answers
Questions local business owners ask
How should a tanning salon market itself within the rules?
Tanning salon marketing has to sell sessions within some of the strictest rules in beauty: no sunbed use by under-18s and no health claims. We keep your sunbed minutes, spray tan bookings, opening hours and age policy clear across Google, your website and AI tools, so the right adult customers can book.
Can you promote our sunbeds?
Yes, within the law and the CAP Code. Sunbed businesses must not let under-18s use them or offer them a session, and adverts must not claim health benefits such as vitamin D. We write sunbed pages that state the age rule plainly, describe sessions factually and keep promotions away from young audiences.
Can we say sunbeds are safe if used sensibly?
No. Government advice says there is no evidence that any type of sunbed is less harmful than natural sun, and UKHSA discourages cosmetic use. Advertising regulators do not accept safety claims for sunbeds. We describe your equipment, hygiene and supervision factually and link customers to official safety advice instead.
How do we stop under-18s booking online?
Add a clear age declaration to your booking flow, explain that staff will check identification, and repeat the rule on your website and Google Business Profile. Exclude under-18s from paid social audiences. These steps also support a due-diligence defence, though the legal duty stays with your business.
Should spray tans have a separate page from sunbeds?
Yes. Spray tan customers ask different questions: how to prepare, how long it lasts and how far ahead of an event to book. A separate page answers those clearly, keeps sunbed rules where they belong and gives search engines and AI tools a distinct, accurate description of each service.
What category should our tanning salon use on Google?
Choose the tanning category that fits what most customers book with you, then add sunbed sessions and spray tans as separate services so each one is clear. If you also offer mobile spray tans, describe that as a service rather than adding a second address. We add these to your Google Business Profile and keep the same service names on your website.
