Who we work with in SW London and Surrey
We work with independent MOT stations, tyre centres and servicing garages whose customers drive across the south-west edge of London and out into Surrey. Many have one site; some have a second branch on the other side of the boundary. We describe each site as it really is, rather than repeating one page for every town.
Areas we cover: Putney, Wimbledon, Kingston, Sutton and Lambeth, plus Guildford, Woking and Epsom
For London branches the questions are mostly about ULEZ compliance and booking an MOT. For Surrey branches they are about commuter servicing, tyre bookings and what happens when a customer drives into London. We set out which of your sites serves which customers, the roads drivers use to reach you and whether you collect and deliver cars, so nobody books the wrong branch.
Local rules and facts for garage owners here
Four local facts shape garage questions in this area, and we write them into your pages only as the sources state them.
ULEZ covers every London borough on your patch
TfL says the Ultra Low Emission Zone operates across all London boroughs and the City of London, every day except Christmas Day, and that the M25 is not in the zone (see the TfL ULEZ guidance). That puts Putney, Wimbledon, Kingston, Sutton and Lambeth inside it.
Surrey drivers are outside the zone, until they drive in
Guildford, Woking and Epsom are in Surrey, outside London, so the ULEZ does not apply there; a Woking or Epsom driver heading into Kingston or Sutton still needs a vehicle that meets the standard or must pay the daily charge (see the TfL ULEZ guidance). We write separate answers for Surrey-based and London-based customers.
Vans, the LEZ and the same boundary
TfL notes that the ULEZ, LEZ and Direct Vision Standard operate in the same area, and that heavier vans and lorries over 3.5 tonnes fall under the LEZ rather than the ULEZ (see the TfL ULEZ guidance). If you service trade vehicles, we describe that work on its own.
Displaying tyres or vehicles near the pavement in Kingston
Kingston council says selling or displaying goods on, or within a short distance of, the public highway needs a street trading licence (see Kingston Council street trading licences). If your forecourt display edges towards the pavement, check with the council before you photograph it for Google.
ULEZ questions drivers in Putney, Wimbledon and Kingston ask
Drivers ask whether their car is compliant, whether a repair changes that, and whether they pay for a short trip. We answer with links to the TfL vehicle checker and never tell a driver their car is compliant on your behalf.
How local customers search: "garage near me", "MOT Wimbledon"
Google Business Profile for your branch, with local categories and photos
One profile per real site, with the correct primary category, MOT bay photos and accurate Saturday hours.
Reviews that name your area and service
Ask customers to mention the work and where they came from, for example a tyre change for a Putney commuter. Never reward reviews.
MOT bookings and reminders
Make the MOT booking route obvious and explain how reminders work. Point drivers to the GOV.UK MOT history check rather than guessing (see the GOV.UK MOT history check).

Clear answers
Questions local business owners ask
Our garage sits near the ULEZ boundary. What should our marketing cover?
MOT and garage marketing in SW London and Surrey means answering what drivers really ask: can you test my car this week, do you fit tyres, and will my vehicle be charged to drive here. We keep your services, hours and ULEZ answers consistent across Google, your website and AI tools, whichever side of the London boundary your garage sits.
Do customers in Putney and Wimbledon need ULEZ answers on our site?
Yes. TfL says the ULEZ covers all London boroughs, which includes Wandsworth and Merton. Drivers often ask a garage whether their car meets the standard. We add a short, factual answer that links to the TfL vehicle checker, and we never state a vehicle's status for you.
Are Woking and Epsom inside the ULEZ?
No. Both are in Surrey, outside London, and TfL describes the zone as covering London's boroughs. Customers from Woking or Epsom who drive into Kingston or Sutton still need a compliant vehicle or must pay the daily charge, so we write a separate answer for Surrey drivers.
Can we put tyres on display outside our Kingston garage?
Check first. Kingston council says displaying or selling goods on or near the public highway needs a street trading licence. If your display sits on your own forecourt, it may not apply, but we recommend confirming with the licensing team before you feature it in photos.
Which branch should drivers in Sutton and Lambeth contact?
Tell them directly. If one site handles MOTs and another does tyres or vans, say so in the areas section and on each Google profile. A driver in Sutton who needs a van serviced should not have to ring two numbers to find out which site can take it this week.
