Sunbed licences and under-18 rules in SW London
Sutton and Kingston list ultraviolet sunbeds among their medium-risk special treatments under the London Local Authorities Act 1991, and Lambeth places ultraviolet tanning in its highest fee band (see Sutton, Kingston and Lambeth). Richmond also licenses special treatments under the same Act (see Richmond Council).
The Sunbeds (Regulation) Act 2010
The Act requires a sunbed business to ensure no one under 18 uses a sunbed on its premises, is offered one, or is present in a restricted zone (see the Sunbeds (Regulation) Act 2010, legislation.gov.uk). It applies in England whether your salon is in Lambeth or Woking. We write that rule plainly on your booking pages.
Richmond's standard conditions for UV tanning
Richmond's standard licence conditions include a signed record card before use, protective eyewear provided free and HSE guidance displayed in each cubicle (see Richmond Council standard conditions). We reflect those steps in your FAQs rather than making health claims.
#### Spray tans in clients' homes
Sutton lists fully mobile services and treatments in clients' own homes among its exemptions (see Sutton Council). We describe a mobile spray tan service separately from salon sunbeds.
Woking and Epsom: national rules, no London licence
GOV.UK says special treatment licences apply in Greater London; outside it, councils register a narrower list of treatments that does not include sunbeds (see the GOV.UK skin piercing and tattooing licences). For a Woking or Epsom salon, we lead with the Sunbeds Act and suggest confirming any local requirements with Woking Borough Council or Epsom and Ewell Borough Council. Which council licenses our sunbeds in Sutton, Lambeth or Kingston?
